Juneathon, DONE!

I don't like that this is my last blog for Juneathon. I'm already thinking about next year! Slightly sad that I didn't run the whole 30 days but I did manage 22, which I'm really proud of.

Today I swam, I noticed that I'm getting better. 10 minutes after work isn't easy as I was hot and achy. The back is improving every day, so as the Osteopath has told me to avoid the gym for a week. I'm going to take a few days rest! Actually I'll probably go swimming on Friday morning, as it's weigh day.

As I few Juneathoners have mentioned their weights, I will too! As I'm following Weight Watchers too, I should have lost something. I've lost nothing! Exactly the same weight as I started. Interesting and annoying. I think my eating what I like at the weekends is the reason.

I've been avoiding the total stats information, as I really don't like numbers and having to total create a decent set of understandable stats something I can do easily.

As I've done more then 1 activity on some days I just counted the running or the main activity.

Here are my 30 days of stats.
22 Days - Running
5 Days - Swimming
2 Days - Pilates
1 Day - Walking

TOTAL KM: 56.86 km

I'll miss reading everyone's blogs, but seeing as I've also learnt to use blogger and google reader I will still be able see what you're all up to.

A Calm Juneathon Day

Since I've been struggling with the old back ( I gonna be 32 in 4 days!) today is a Pilates only day.

To increase my activity today I walked to Stratford which is a mammoth 0.7 miles and then walked to work from Liverpool Street Station via the Millennium Bridge. I passed a very long line outside the London Wall branch of o2. Crazy people wanting their iPhone on the first day. I don't understand why, but I do own alot of Apple products.

I had my lunch Pilates class today. I told my Mel about my back and she kept an eye on me throughout the class. It wasn't too bad and I managed to do all the exercises. It's always rubbish going back to work after Pilates, I always want to have a siesta!

Chris met me after work and we both walked to Liverpool Street. The route we walk totals 1.7 miles.

It's gonna be a hot night, so I hope the crazy rasta across the road doesn't spend all night shouting and drinking his can of red stripe! I called the nuisance neighbours line last night, they said he is know to them and that they will follow up my complaint. Result!

Football Crazy Football Mad

Todays Activity was swimming. My back is too painful, for me to go running. I don't want to be left with bad back, so I think it's best to stick to swimming. I like swimming and I've not been able to swim for long until recently, my fitness has improved immensely because I've been running

It's a lovely morning and we walked to Stratford to get the train. I headed left to the gym and Chris went right towards Southwark. I like the mornings, when we can chat and catch up.

The pool wasn't too busy and I shared the lane with 2 other people. I managed 20 minutes and 21 lengths of the pool. I felt sweaty and hot, so I knew I had done enough.

Because of the England V Slovenia game being at 3pm UK time. We were told we could watch the game, if our work was done. Everyone was exited and a few people had brought in wine to drink while watching the game. It was like the last day of school, nobody was doing any work.

This is my office during the final minutes of the game.

I had my appointment with the Osteopath, straight after the game so I hobbled off down the road to London Bridge. My Osteopath, Robin Kirk is good. I explained the hurty back and he went to work. He's brilliant. I think I counted 6 places, where he cracked by back! It felt good straight away. He told me I may need to go back, but I should see how it get on.

When I got home, Chris was in the garden putting the clothes on the line. I had a look at the veg we have growing and noticed the berries along the back. They've grown loads. I picked a load and ate a few, delicious!

Hurty Back

Since yesterday morning my back has been giving me a bit of trouble. I did run on it yesterday and It wasn't too bad. After the long drive it went back to hurting again. I wasn't sure if I would be able to do today's run. I decided to wait until the evening to see how it felt.

It felt better than yesterday morning and I didn't struggle to get my trainers on either. Chris was working late, so it was the perfect time to go for a run. I didn't want to push it too far so I kept an even pace. The park was quite busy, as it was sunnier than last Monday. Lots more people to try and dodge. There were a lots of pairs, who took up most of the path. A few times, it was a test to see who would move for whom. I won 3 out of the 4 encounters, purely because I was running and they were walking.

I'm a bit disappointed that I'm not able to run for longer than 15 minutes in the park. Now that, I've have been in the park a few more time, I'm getting more confident. Juneathon has been brilliant for me.

While I showered, Chris made Aubergine Wraps for dinner. They were really good. We saw the recipe on telly a few weeks ago. He's not a bad little cook.

Halfway Through Juneathon

So I made it to the halfway way mark. I wasn't sure I would get this far and I'm really pleased with myself.

To be honest I muscles were feeling a little achy, so I didn't really want to run today. I decided on swimming, as it's good exercise and less strain on my achy muscles.

My gym has a little pool at 25m. It's sectioned off in 3 lanes slow, medium and fast. It was busy and I started counting, but soon forgot. I think it was around 15-16. I spent around 20 minutes in the pool varying between breaststroke and front crawl. I was feeling tired, so I knew I wasn't putting as much energy as I did on Fridays swim.

I wanted to post this blog earlier, as I knew it was going to be short. I logged into my computer at work and realised the internet was really really slow. The internal email was working, but nothing else. I'm a Picture Researcher for What's on TV magazine (nice plug) and everything I need is online or requested via email. No electronic communication, is rubbish. As soon as it was lunch I decided to go for a quick 20minute walk, it not like I could do any work. Everything started working eventually, but I'd already started doing paperwork and quite liked having no distractions like twitter, email and facebook.

4k Tuesday

I'm wearing my Weight Watchers pedometer today. No reason, just felt like it. I just took the picture to show how many steps I'd walked so far. (13.45pm)I think you're supposed to to 10k.

Anyway, back to Juneathon. Today I was determined to have a proper run. I've been tired and have done little runs. I had my Audio Fuel and I was ready. The gym was packed and I ended up with a treadmill without a telly. I quite like breakfast TV without the sound.

I started well and kept my pace consistent. By the 20 minutes, I was actually enjoying it. I managed my best run yet. I think I'm gonna do little runs during the week and a 4k one every Tuesday. That way I can see it I beat my previous time.

A Smaller Run and Pilates

Getting up this morning was hard as I was at Electric Hotel, an outdoor dance performance, which started at 9.45pm. I had to be organised and packed my PE kit before I went out.

Chris started the gps thingy on his phone, so I could calculate my route. We walked to my gym, via the Millienium Bridge. It's a nice route to take, in the morning sun. I was struggling in the heat, as I was carrying my rucksack and handbag. I'd already decided to run less this morning. Thursdays is Pilates Day, so I try not to exhaust myself in the morning.

Today I started my run listening to the One Five Five, Audio Fuel. I set the running machine on 5k, as I wasn't sure how long or far I wanted to run for. I quite like looking at the timer and getting the number to round off nicely. I started by thinking burning 100 calories would be a good target to aim for. Once I'd reached that I noticed I'd already run just under 2k. I decided to carry on going and aim for 16 minutes. Not bad, I felt satisfied and after my stretches I decided to use the free weight machines, so my time spent in the gym totalled more than just my running time.

I'm lucky as I work for a company, who likes to promote wellbeing. Every Thursday at lunch I attend Pilates. I've been going for over a year and have progressed to the intermediate class. My teacher Melanie Noble is great and I enjoy every class. Only problem is going back to work.

I'm going to start adding my Weight Watchers activity points to my stats. The first 3 days have been quite easy to do, as I was already planning to go to the gym 3 times this week. Friday Morning is weigh day, so I don't normally visit the gym. I still have time to think about what I do. Maybe I'll go swimming before Weight Watchers or get a walk in after work. Guess you'll find out in tomorrow's blog ;-)

Audio Fuel is amazing! Juneathon

After an intense evening trying to sort out my basic blog page (which I will probably change every few days until I'm happy) I've decided to try a few different tactic at the gym. Mainly so I don't get bored.

After reading all the posts on Juneathon's Facebook page I found Audio Fuel a company, that puts together music to the right BPM. The technical info is on their website. I downloaded the free sample and the One Five Five.

The morning started as it does most mornings, a 30 minute walk to the gym from Liverpool Street. Chris walks with me as he works in SE1 too. He's one of the main reasons I am able to get out the house to go to the gym. He starts work at 9am and I can get to the gym with enough time for a workout, if I leave with him.

I decided that I don't have to run long distances every day just enough I get me moving and the blood pumping. I'd set the runing machine to manual, just so I didn't have to commit to any time or distance I thought I would see how the 15 min free sample would work. It was a really great run. I enjoyed the Audio Fuel and wasn't even watching the time counter. Will try the One Five Five tomorrow. As I had done a shorter run today. I thought I would do weights, I worked on more reps instead of more weight.

Well thats Day 2 of Juneathon completed.
